transfer to hotel in Yerevan.

Day 2

Cafesjian Cascade.jpg

Breakfast. Today we will have a walk in Yerevan. You will see the
French Square, the Opera house, Republic square and Abovyan street. You will visit Matenadaran- a repository of ancient manuscripts and books. We will visit Genocide Memorial and the museum, as well as the Cafesjian Cascade Center for the arts in Yerevan. Most of the exhibits are from the private collection of the main benefactor, Mr. Gerard L. Cafesjian. His collection
includes more than 5,000 works and is the most complete collection of Swarovski crystals in the world. The Cafesjian's Sculpture Garden is located near Cascade and has one of the best collections in the world, which includes the works of sculptors such as Fernando Botero, Lynn Chadwick and others. Lunch in national restaurant «Dalan Art Gallery and Cafe». Free time. Depending on weather conditions, possibility to visit singing fountains on the Republic Square.

Day 3

Ejmiadzin.jpg

Breakfast. Today we have a trip to Ejmiadzin - the Cathedral, the main temple of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Here is the residence of the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians. The Cathedral has been added to UNESCO world heritage site since 2000. Then we will visit the
TASTY GUEST HOUSE & GASTRO YARD, colorful place with Armenian cuisine. Here we will take part in the master class of Armenian sweets - Gata baking in a tonir and we'll have a delicious lunch. Here you can enjoy fruit homemade vodka. On the way back visit to Zvartnots temple of early medieval Armenian architecture, the pearl of architecture of the 7 th century. Return to Yerevan. Dinner.

Day 4

Breakfast. Today we will see Garni -the pagan temple of the 1st century A.D., the only preserved monument in Armenia with the ruins of an ancient fortress, the Royal chambers and the bathhouse built in the III century A.D. Lunch in the house of a local resident, take part in baking lavash. Then we look at the two–level temple carved in the rock and the adjacent Church - The Monastery Complex Geghard, which was founded in the 4th century on the place of the sacred spring. Of course, we will eat
Armenian sweets and fruits, especially dried apricots.

Day 5

Khor Virap.jpg

Breakfast. We will go to Khor Virap - an ancient monastery with a rich history, which offers a beautiful view of Mount Ararat (you will get great photos on the background of Mount Ararat), a place of pilgrimage of Armenians, where in an underground prison the Armenian king Trdat III kept in prison for about 13 years of St. Gregory the Illuminator for preaching Christianity. After we will have a trip to Vayots Dzor wine-producing province to visit Areni winery. Areni winery is the 6100-years old winery, which was discovered in 2007 in the cave complex Areni-1 in the village of
Areni. We will have a walk through the factory, during which we will be shown the varieties of local wine, which, of course, we will taste. Lunch at the local tavern. After we will go to the monastery
complex of Noravank, founded in 12 th c., which is located on the ledge of a winding gorge among the amazing cliffs of bright red color. Return to Yerevan.

Day 6

Breakfast. Today we have a visit to the flea market Vernissage, where you
can find the best examples of Armenian folk art, unique jewelry, exclusive
handmade masterpieces, carpets, paintings and souvenirs. Visit the Vernissage and take a piece of Armenia with you. Then we have a visit to Yerevan Brandy factory, where we will have the factory tour and taste 2-3 types of Armenian brandy. Then GUM fruit and vegetable market, where you can buy both fresh fruits and dried fruits, sweets, spices, basturma, sujukh, lavash to take with you a piece of the sun of Armenia. Lunch at the restaurant «Ararat Pandok». Then we have a visit to the Megerian carpet weaving factory, which still uses hand weaving technology. We will visit
the factory, exhibition hall and you will have the opportunity to buy a real handmade carpet. There we will take part in a master class on baking of lavash (included in intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO) in tonir, where you will be able to participate, and then to taste the Armenian national
sandwich «brduch» - different ingredients wrapped in lavash (lavash, cheese, greens, tan). Here we will have a dinner with Armenian dishes and invite a national dance ensemble with a master class in Armenian dances, dance Kochari, also included in the intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.

Day 7

Breakfast. Today we will go to lake Sevan, Pearl of
Armenia, stop on the Peninsula, near the monastery Sevanavank, 9th century. Possibility to arrange a boat trip (extra charge). Depart to Dilijan, then to Haghartsin Monastic Complex of the 10-13 th cc. Lunch in Dilijan. Drive to Armenian-Georgian border. Cross the border, change transport and drive to Tbilisi.

Tbilisi, capital of Georgia from the 5th century AD, has a long and fascinating history. Founded in the 4th century by King Vakhtang Gorgasali on the site of its warm mineral-water springs – it developed into the main city of the Caucasus. By the 12th century Tbilisi was one of the most important political, economic and
cultural centres of the Middle East. It stood as a key stop on the famous Silk Road - right on the border between Europe and Asia (west and ast). Tbilisi’s Old Town, the most ancient part of the city, is renowned for its wonderful mix of cultures. The
mosque, the synagogue, the Armenian and Roman Catholic churches mingle harmoniously with the splendid Georgian churches and architecture. The wooden houses with open, carved balconies seem to welcome every visitor. The balmy sulfur baths have hosted poets, writers, musicians, kings down through
the centuries.  City tour of Tbilisi with visits to the Old Town, Metekhi Temple, 12th c. “Abanotubani” – the baths area,
The Mosque; Narikala, - The main fortress of Tbilisi.
Walking through narrow streets, along which some carpet and souvenir shops are situated. We will continue excursion in the old town. We visit the Sioni Cathedral 11th c. Visit the “Peace Bridge”,
Anchiskhati Church 6th c. Visit Freedom Square and Rustaveli Avenue, the main street of Tbilisi. Welcome dinner at the restaurant. Overnight in Tbilisi. Breakfast included.

Tbilisi – Mtskheta & Jvari – Gori - Bakuriani We start our trip by driving to Mtskheta. Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia is situated 20km from Tbilisi. Historians date the town back to the 2nd millennium B.C. Mtskheta was the capital of Georgian Kingdom of Iberia between 500BC - 500AD. Here Georgians accepted Christianity in the beginning of the
4th century. The town and its architectural monuments are listed as the World's Cultural Heritage sites of UNESCO. Visit Jvari Monastery (6th c.) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th c.). We continue driving south and then west to town Gori, Today the town is mainly known for its huge Fortress and as a birthplace of J. Stalin. Optional visit to Stalin Museum. Drive to Uplistsikhe cave town dated to 7th c. BC. It contains a large central hall for pagan rituals, living rooms and a church of the 9th century. Drive to Bakuriani (1800m), ski resort, surrounded by the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. Hotel. Breakfast and Dinner included.

Bakuriani – Ananuri – Gudauri.
We continue driving along the Georgian Military Highway, the historical road leading north into the Caucasus Mountains.  It passes the spectacular Ananuri fortress (16 th – 17 th cc), where we have excursion. Then we drive along the sides of the dramatic Aragvi River Valley up to Gudauri resort (2000m). Drive up to Gudauri and overnight. Breakfast and Dinner included.

12: Gudauri – Kazbegi – Tbilisi
Cross the Jvari Pass (2395m) and then down into Kazbegi (1700m). We explore the area and stay at the hotel. Surrounded by gigantic mountains Kazbegi is a picturesque settlement overlooked by the biggest of all - Mount Kazbek (5047m) -   one of the six 5000 metre peaks of the Caucasus. According to the legend, Prometheus was chained on the mount Kazbek. Walk up to the Sameba Church (2 hour walking one way) beautifully situated on the hill providing splendid views of Mt. Kazbek. Or you can hire jeeps for driving up. Extra cost per car with 6 seats is USD 25. Return to Tbilisi. Breakfast included.

Alaverdi Cathedral.jpg

13: Tbilisi – Kakheti Province – Tbilisi.
Kakheti, Georgia’s famous wine district, lies due east from Tbilisi in a land dotted with fine old churches and vineyard after vineyard. First, we visit Sighnaghi, a beautiful hill-town providing panoramic views of Alazani Valley and the Eastern Caucasus Mountains. Visit Gremi architectural complex of the 16 th c,.
Excursion to Alaverdi Cathedral (11 th c). Finally, we visit Tsinandali, the residence of the 19 th century noble family. Optional: We offer visit to one of the wineries to taste some of the best sorts of Georgian wines(for extra charge). Return Tbilisi. Hotel. Breakfast included.
